The Commonly Used Pigment Red 57:1 In The Printing Inks

Pigment Red 57:1 is a reddish synthetic azo dye and known under a variety of names, the most common among which is 4B toner. P.R.57:1, the calcium salt, ranks high among organic pigments in production volume and use. It is prepared by azo coupling with 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid.The pigment is used primarily in all types of printing inks. P.R.57:1 is a pigment with high tinctorial strength. It is normally used as a standard magenta in the three and four color printing processes.
